Department Lead - Annual & Perennial Plants - Burnaby-Lougheed

GARDENWORKS Burnaby is looking for an energetic and passionate, gardening enthusiast to support the customer experience. This is a lead position mentoring under the Department Manager.

Overview of role:

  • Building sales and supporting our brand by providing outstanding service to our guests
  • During our peak season we will look to you to be the sales floor lead in the department, providing daily direction to our seasonal team – ensuring the department runs smoothly and the team feels supported
  • Lead & execute the product flow process, including receiving, pricing, preparing product for floor, and final placement - ensuring tables are full of plants ready to sell
  • We look to you to bolster a positive & engaging work environment where our team can be proud of their work and are recognized for their contribution
  • Working with the store merchandiser creating inspiring displays, managing product placement that is reflective of trend and supports brand messaging

Is this you?

  • A passion for what we do – connecting people to nature and growing!
  • A good knowledge base of annual & perennial plants (or a willingness to learn!)
  • 3+ years customer service experience, preferably in a retail setting
  • Strong organization skills are self-directed, and you work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strength in Microsoft excel, and utilizing our POS system for sales reporting
  • You believe in fostering a positive and respectful workplace - listening, looking for solutions and encouraging open communication among the team
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, and holidays as seasonal peaks require, including store opening and closing responsibilities
  • This job requires extended periods of walking and standing, as well as the ability to lift to 50lbs and work in various weather conditions and environments

This is a full-time position; compensation $22-24/hour.
